Welcome to Dundee Science Centre Science Learning Institute

DSC Science Learning Institute is a collaborative approach to providing support and development for the many professions who engage with learners throughout the community. Dundee Science Centre’s vision is a culture of curiosity, confidence and engagement with science for the whole community. Through the Science Learning Institute, we are working with our partners – the University of Dundee, Dundee College and SSERC – to provide high quality and interprofessional training for practising professionals and those in further and higher education, to enhance learning for all across our region.

DSC Science Learning Institute is here to:

support Curriculum for Excellence through teacher CPD
promote public engagement with science through science communication training for research scientists
share the science centre ethos with other science communicators and museum educators
support core skills training in further education
support community learning through collaboration with community centres

Except where stated, all of our courses are open to all professions, helping to support your own networking and interdisciplinary learning.

Careers Speed Networking
With the season for careers fairs fast approaching the Dundee Science Centre would like to offer a fun, FREE, exciting opportunity to your school: a Careers Speed Networking event. As STEM Ambassador contract holders for the North East of Scotland we have many motivated volunteers who would love to come into schools to talk about their careers and how they got to be where they are today, and the Careers Speed Dating event is the perfect way to get a wide range of careers representatives in one room at the same time.

CPD sessions for 2011/2012
Dundee Science Centre is a great place to bring your school kids, so why not come along and explore the centre for yourselves first! Our CPD sessions give you the chance to learn some new science activities, build confidence in specific science topics, experience a workshop, see the centre and enjoy coffee and a cake while you meet some other teachers.

We are pleased to announce that, with effect from 1st July 2011, Dundee Science Centre is the new STEMNET contract holder for North East Scotland.
