Resources for your classroom
These fun and exciting loan boxes contain resources, materials and a teacher pack full of ideas, for you to use in the classroom for a week or two.
These resources are free of charge, and only require that you come and visit the centre, take part in a workshop or come along for one of our CPD evenings!
We currently have four loan boxes, but watch this space, as 2010 is going to be a great year for us, and our creative vibes are flowing!
Healthy Body Bits
Our new loan box contains lots of things for you to help the children learn about their body, both inside and out. There are outfits to put on, which show where all the bones in your skeleton are, and one with all the organs in your body, to help the pupils learn where each of these organs are and what they look like. With fun activities and worksheets, pupils will learn more about their bodies, how they work, and even get to hear their own heartbeat!
This loan box is available to borrow after a visit to the centre to see our Healthy Body Bits or How to Make the Perfect Poo workshops, or by coming along to one of our CPD sessions.
Solar System
This new loan box is full of lots of resources and materials to allow your class to take on a space project. There are 3D models of the planets so you can decorate your classroom, and a sun, moon and Earth orbiter to demonstrate how day, night and the seasons occur. You can use this solar loan box to learn about the planets, moons and stars. The teacher resource pack also contains lots of activities to get the pupils talking and writing about this fascinating subject.
This loan box is available to borrow after visiting the centre for any of our school workshops, including the Solar Show, or by coming along to one of our CPD sessions.
Biodiversity
This loan box was created for our Crazy Creatures project, and contains lots of bug viewers, frog and butterfly models of metamorphis and our copies of the ‘Crazy Creatures’ book by Gill Arbuthnott. This book is fantastic for explaining how biodiversity creates all the different creatures on earth, in a really fun and enjoyable way. It also allows children to develop their science and literacy skills.
Our Biodiversity loan box is available for any class to borrow, after a visit for any of our primary workshops.
Fingerprint Identification
How would you like to create a classroom crime scene? Well with this loan box you can! There are lots of materials and resources in this box that forensic scientists use to solve their crimes, including fingerprint dusters and inkpads, there’s even a forensics suit to dress up in to help you solve the mysteries of your investigation. Our teacher resource pack gives you lots of ideas of what you can use the materials for, and after coming to our Fingerprints Identification workshop or CPD, you will know how to use the equipment.
Our Fingerprints loan box is only available for loan after booking in to our Fingerprint Identification workshop, or by attending the Fingerprint Identification CPD session.
